Valerie Willis
Education and Prevention Specialist

Valerie joined the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office at Baylor University as the Education Prevention Specialist. In this role, she is responsible for creating and facilitating educational and responsive programs on topics such as sex-based misconduct, harassment, and discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics. Her other key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating trainings on campus reporting options and responsibilities under the Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct Policy and Civil Rights Policy.
- Managing employee and student enrollment in online educational courses.
- Creating annual web-based trainings on diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Supervising the Assistant to the Education and Prevention Specialist, managing and updating website and social media for the office.
- Co-facilitating adaptable resolution processes under relevant policies and assisting in all other Equity Office functions as needed.
Prior to joining Baylor, Valerie spent 15 years in public education, serving at all levels from prekindergarten through 12th grade. Her diverse experience spans rural, urban, and suburban contexts, and she has held various roles, including teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. Valerie also worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Rating Veterans Service Representative (RVSR).
Valerie holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration, Curriculum, & Supervision from The University of Oklahoma, a Master of Education in Teaching & Administration Certificate from Northeastern State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University.
Among her many accolades, Valerie has been recognized as Waco's Athena Leadership Award Nominee, Region 12 High School Principal of the Year for 2022-2023, and Waco's Top 40 Under 40 Nominee & Honoree.
